The dog is playing but the fawn seems like it's "defending" itself, notice how the tail is up meaning it senses danger. Deer pick up their tail to signal other deers that there is a predator present.
Watching fawns play is the best. We get 2 to 3 babies every June and we love to sit out on the back porch and watch them romp around. Momma deer means business, though, if they get too loud or rowdy. She stamps and headbutts them if they get out of control. Very enjoyable.
This is adorable! I read of a story of a fox and a deer too. at first the fox would nip at the deer heals and then they separated them for two week and then introduced them again, and meet each other like to friends that missed each other exchanging playing a game of tag. The deer was definatelly just playing. I've watched young deer play several times. They're very playful. sometimes they stand on hind legs facing each other and tap their front hooves together.
I've also seen one doe kill the fawn of another doe because it didn't want its fawn playing with another fawn.

Do the mother accept the young fawn after playing with a dog?

the dog wants to play, but the deer is not thinking that way

even if it was defending itself it would be really foolish bcos the dog could rip a baby deer to shreds
