my favourite annacdote about kinski is from when he was filming ''venom'' ( 1982 ) with ollie reed.
ollie would call klaus a ''nazi'' ( wrongly of course ) and shake up his trailer to get a rise out of him.......so they ended up chasing each other around the set threatening to kill each other !

Wonder since his English seems excellent that they didn't continue to shoot Fitzcarraldo in English after he replaced Jason Robards. Or maybe German was Herzog's preferred language for it all along?

Man I miss this crazy fucker! The only guy that could drive yet another nut like Werner Herzog up a wall. Which reminds me, anyone who hasn't really should watch Herzog's "My Best Fiend", which details his batshit crazy relationship with Kinski. It's a really fascinating watch.
