  • You tried to impress that the Yamanote Halloween is Japanese/foreigner mix party. But its not. The party notification is put only on English forums, I have never seen it on Japanese forums. Those Japanese are most likely friends of foreigners.

  • @superguizi

If Japanese people attend the party then they are part of the party. Anyway, did this party take place this year? If it didn't then why are you bothering with this. I have better things to do. I like discussing things but I'm a busy guy. Take care and maybe we'll discuss an NEW topic next time. Believe me I have spent ENOUGH time on this. Take care!

Learning from history and past actions is good, otherwise we will make same mistakes.

It seems you think this discussion bothersome. So I wont continue it any more. But to tell the truth, by your logic, I can say the following excuses. Discussion isnt illegal, everyone does it, its not disturbing others, its just once in a while, YouTube is full of it. Why cant we do it? Haha, just a joke. I wont disturb you.

It was fun to hear opinion of someone from other culture. See you.

  • Suppose you held a party and got criticism from neighbors. Next year again you got the same criticism. This continued several years. And you keep saying the party isnt that annoying, its just once a year, neighbors should endure, some people are not noisy, we have a photo that tell the party is quiet, others do the same why only criticize us. After saying these, next year the same thing happened, a noisy party.

Now, should neighbors allow you to have a party?

When I wrote that my train delayed on JapanToday. Most people didn't care, made lots of excuses and said that I had to endure. They also said other passengers can use the next train if they think its disturbing. It is very clear they dont feel guilty.

You have to use imagination. There are lots of police officers and JR service staff there. They tried hard not to make any scene and delay trains.

  • @Gimmeaflakeman

Partly agree. Key point isn't tradition, though still tradition is important globally.

As I wrote, even a big traditional festival, like Sanja, ended up losing some parts of festival activities. So, the Yamanote Halloween, a new festival in Japan will have a hard time to get support. And In reality, the Yamanote Halloween isn't Halloween as you said, but is a costume party by drunk people with no guilty for disturbing others. In that case, they can't get approval.

  • @Gimmeaflakeman

I cannot explain why people feel or do not feel guilty. I have seen some videos of people just riding the train and drinking but not causing problems. Should they feel guilty? I don't think so. I have seen other videos of gaijin/Japanese riding the train and doing things they should be arrested for. Are you saying that it is OK to ride a train in costume if no problems are caused? It is OK to drink on a train? I see people drinking on the train all the time. Salarymen included.

  • @superguizi

The word tradition is a bad excuse. Slavery was a tradition, too but no one supports that today. Best not try to use tradition as a reason to support or be against anything. And anyway, everything that is now tradition was not a tradition at first. Just like any religion is considered a "cult" at first.

  • I cant understand you. You said "if they are rude and delay the train, its totally unacceptable". And they ARE rude and DELAY trains. By your logic, you have to be against it.

But from what you said, I got an impression that you support it whatever reason, even by distorting the reality.

I want to ask original questions.

    Why not in a restaurant?

    Why by disturbing others?

What do you think if foreigners hold a party on NY train?

What do you think if they feel no guilty for it?

  • @Gimmeaflakeman

Some holidays are accepted as tradition, but Halloween isn't because its new. But even some traditional festival got lots of criticism and lost some parts of their activity, as in Sanja. So there is little chance Yamanote Halloween get recognition, when they feel no guilty for disturbing others.

Yamanote Halloween was started by foreigners around 20 years ago. Its very unlikely that Japanese started it.

Yes, It is not Halloween, but is a costume party with no tradition.
