I have a '68 Whaler 13' with a 1966 Evinrude BigTwin 40. It looks like a mammoth engine because of the excessive cowling (consistent with most 60s era designs...see Lincolns of that era!) yet the engine weighs

145lbs according to an original brochure. It truly makes that little boat almost frightening :) Lots of torque. I will look into the Tohatsu if I should ever decide to upgrade to the modern era!

  • how many horses

  • Man I've got the same model and design. The only difference is mine is in terrible condition. I take my son out fishing in it all the time though. I like how stable it is in the water with a ten year old walking around in it. Your's looks beautiful though.

  • I've got a 66 model, with 2003 Tohatsu Short Shaft 2 Stroke 40 Horse,You can PULL Water Skiers! I did a lot of research, and found this motor is made by Nissan and it's Bullet Proof,it's also only weighs 150 lbs....This Lighter Motor works better with the short Transom....Tohatsu now makes all the small 2 Stokes for Mercury....This Motor is The Max Coast Guard Rating, and Remember 40 Hp Motors in the 50's Where Dinosaurs,Now there rated at the prop.

  • @iluvgreenday43 it looks like a 40
