Maiden Flight of owner - builder - pilot Mike Elliot's Top Flite Giant Scale P-40 WarHawk at the OK Sooner Squadron field on Aug 13, 2011. Mike Elliot and Jim Ellis did the Pilot 'tag-team' duties to share the Maiden flight... and with that team.. the bird has a 99% chance of coming back in one piece.

Note: The motor 'glitch' on take-off was Jim (using Mike's radio) hit the toggle for retracts on Jim's JR radio... but on Mike's Futaba radio, that switch was the engine kill switch...!!! Didn't know a gasser engine would re-start like that...!!! Was most impressed...!! Does that count as a 'Free Airplane'...???

Powered by a DLE 55, electronics are all Futaba. Good looking ARF and with the 3-bladed prop... looks, sounds and flies just right...!!

  • Talked to the builder/owner and he used a Troy Built 20/12 on the P-40.

  • Awesome flight including the "oops" moment. What size and brand of 3 blade prop are you using?

  • Hey, it looked good on the ground and in the air. Good flying and video.
