Dark Souls - Bell Gargoyles melee

Equips: wanderer armor, +3 halberd, +3 hollow soldier shield

This goes just to show that the fight is not that difficult solo even without the drake sword or spells. I'm getting hit a bunch since my character doesn't have enough str to one-hand the halberd and have to toggle modes to block with the shield. It can be done perfectly without much difficulty without the time lost from toggling two-hand mode.

The second gargoyle attacks once you've reduced the first one to below 60% hp. Just bait into doing the fire breath, then sprint around that and attack the first gargoyle.

You can get the gargoyle tail axe by attacking the tail of the first gargoyle. There's also 3 other drops- gargoyles- helm, shield and halberd which may drop by chance. If you absolutely want them, you can farm for them by entering the boss area, killing the first gargoyle, pick up any drops from it and then suiciding. This is the only way to get unlimited chances in obtain those equips without using newgame+ since the other gargoyles do not respawn once killed.
