It's a spiritual sequel to Operation Flashpoint (both made by the same company - Bohemia Interactive Studio). Work on that started way before CoD was ever released.

@soleman68 Yea first game (Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis) was released in 2001, Call of Duty was released in 2003. Call of Duty 4 was released in 2007, but ArmA (ArmA 1) was released in May 2007, several months before Call of Duty 4. Plus the games are nothing alike, this is a very realistic simulator, CoD and BF are very "run-n-gun"

Actually I find arma way more fun than the COD games in every way.

And just so you don't think I'm some arma fanboy I've been playing cod since COD1 and UO for the pc.

thats only for CPU... Crysis needs better hardware but Arma 2 is awesome too.
