Great review! My pro photog buddy recommended this lens. Does the L really stand for luxury?

For landscape photography, would this cut it? The 16-35mm f/2.8L USM MKII is wider by a millimeter (not really crazy about that) but it's brighter than the 17-40mm by a full stop. With that stop advantage, it's almost twice as expensive.
I mean...
if I get the 17-40mm... I could get a 50mm f/1.4 in the same year!
if I get the 16-35mm... then... that's it. No more toys for me. lol.

I think the equivalent on a small frame is great (27-65mm) but I doubt wether it is good for wedding photography at full frame ..
Also, I've heard that in 2 or 3 years full frame bodies might be at the price of around €1000 or so
Is this actually possible??? because I hardly doubt it will ...
-
@tukiexxx Indeed. It would be an awesome all around general use lens on any crop frame including the 550D. More equivalent to a 24 or 28-70mm.

Hi, can I use this len with canon 550d??? Thank you
Hi Mr Gordon
I currently use the EF-S 18-200mm Lens and want to upgrade.
Please can you advise if this Lens if compatable & recommended for the 50D?

Hi Almraya, we've actually compared the 24-105mm against the 24-70mm in our 24-105mm full review at the cameralabs website. There's a link to this to the right of the video window on our 24-105mm video tour...
