The Carteret Islands are found 86 kilometres to the north east of Bougainville in Papua New Guinea. They consist of six tiny islands around an volcanic lagoon which is 25 kilometres in diameter.

Ursula's islands are no more than 1.2 metres above sea level and are suffering from the effects of rising sea levels. The vegetable gardens and drink water supplies have been contaminated by sea water and residents of these islands are having to be evacuated to mainland Bougainville.

Ursula's islands do not have electricity or cars and her community. As she points out in this film what are lifestyle choices for people in the rich industrialised world, result in life and death choices for the residents of her low lying islands.
