It's more then a decade after the official end to Conrail operations, yet Conrail seemed to dominate Morrisville, Pennsylvania's railroading scene on this hot August morning. Seeing both the rare Operation Lifesaver #5290, and the Can-Opener painted #5296, plus a trio of CSX GP38-2's, this video is one Trainiac Production you won't want to miss!

Thanks so much for watching, and may Big Blue live on forever!

  • 1:55, where is the horn at the crossing?

  • On this line it's horn blowing as-needed for the most part. It depends on the crew. We have a new crew for the current time, and I haven't heard him use the horn once. The crew for the summer of 2009 was (most often) very generous with the horn.

  • Wat RR were you chasing this on

  • Do you mean what railroad owns this line?

  • no what the line is called

  • It doesn't actually have an official name to the best of my knowledge, but all the local railfans call it the Staley Branch.

  • @crossinggate84 Well if you notice you'll see that there's no Crossbucks or Signals and it beats getting of the train and flagging the crossing.

  • @MaumeeandWesternRR Why do they throw those down? Thanks!

  • @crossinggate84 No, actually it's a flare.

  • What did the engineer throw off of the train at 2:00? Was it a cigarette? Weird...

  • @trainlover1999 Yes

  • @MaumeeandWesternRR wow is 5277 still in conrail paint.

  • @trainlover1999 Yeah and 5296 was repainted as well.

  • @MaumeeandWesternRR that is sad to have 5290 painted over and i already went to that sight, but I just wasn't sure about 5290.

  • @trainlover1999 Yes and there are only 43 units still in blue paint. google this to see what is left. (Altoona works.info Last Blue Standing Contest)

  • @MaumeeandWesternRR really, 5290 got repainted
