Now, in the tradition of THE 1900 HOUSE, MANOR HOUSE, FRONTIER HOUSE and COLONIAL HOUSE, comes REGENCY HOUSE PARTY, a series of four episodes in which 10 modern-day men and women get in on the romantic action and the way of life that typified the Regency era.
Part 10 of 36.

  • I'm just bugged by the women not wearing chemisettes during the day or bonnets/ hats when they go outside (some do, but not all the time). And they have maids to help with hair, why aren't they more invested in period-appropriate hairstyles? But I am still so addicted to watching this!! :)

  • @JessicaDaae At 2:28 the corset that Ms. Hawkins wears is very Regency. Some stays were short, but most were hip length. They just didn't have boning all the way around or cinch the waist. Hers looks like the photos of preserved stays and patterns for long stays you can find online. And I thought I recognized some of the dresses! Especially my favorite of Elizabeth's, the white on white stripe with 3/4 sleeves. :)

  • "--a bigger, better torso, that is better breeding stock...".

Being born at a farm-estate, where my dad has been breeding cattle and later on horses, this was actually how the best breeding bulls and studs looked like.

  • @Aworkm916 Indeed, it is a pity that, as soon society developes to the positive in one way, other things unfortunately get lost. Look what has become of British society recently, when the lower ranks of nowadays start to destroy, rob and steal, not having understood that one still needs good manners to make it. So not much has changed actually.

  • I love the chaperones sitting around discussing the men. X3

  • The inaccuracy of the corsets is ridiculous. If they did just a little bit of research they would know how wrong they are. On a happy note, quite a few of the costumes came from the 1995 Pride and Prejudice. So pretty and being worn so badly here.

  • @MissAshleyJClark The whole point is to try and show as faithfully as possible how people actually lived back then with both the good and the bad. If people start to act in a way that they would not have back then, then what is the point of this whole exercise? Part of what is interesting about the program is to show off the difficulties that people faced in that time.
