Not necessarily. Early Earth had (and still, technically, does) plenty of craters...it's just that erosion and other environmental factors helped to cover most of them.
But yeah, an atmosphere would definitely stop the little ones from causing problems. ^^

it does look like a moon... beecoz of all the lumpy-bumpy craters
a full size planet would have a protective atmosphere and thus less craters :) srry, i'll be quiet nao...
