It was my marvelous privilege to be an active accompanist in Ms. Yeend's voice studio at WVUniv from '69-'76. To this day I use some of her exercises with my students. Once, when an E-flat in alt eluded a student, while sitting down, she sang the elusive note with beauty and allure. After her "official retirement" in the '70s, she was invited to give a Christmas recital for the Boston Opera in 1980. The critics were awe-struck that her voice defied aging. Her 1988 PBS recital is an perfect show.

I was lucky enough to have heard Frances in person, and to study with both she and her wonderfuly supportive coach and husband James Benner. I agree with Leontyne Price and her In Questa Reggia is unsurpassed. Frances went to study Liu with Rosa Ponselle at Villa Pace and Rosa said you are not a Liu you must sing Turandot and history was made. I spent many unforgetable times with both Jimmy and Frances and it is wonderful to be able to still visit with her on Utube.

I always heard her name in regards to the "Bel Canto Trio" with Lanza and London, both whom I love,, but hear we get to hear her on her own!!!!!! Thank you so very much!!!!!
