For less than $80.00 out the door at Harbor Freight you can pick up one of these 4" x 36" belt sanders, even without the modifications I'm showing you here, it will get the job done, I also picked up an 8" bench-top drill press from H F for about $75.00 thats working just fine for my needs, I'm just getting back into knife making, but I'm starting from scratch, you know, just trying to make ends meet, so when I can I will throw you a tip for making beautiful knives on a budget. Let me just add that I get my sanding belts, as well as my steel from hgh rating ebay sellers, you can get excellent belts with grits that you can't buy in stores real cheap there.

  • jusst wondering, what did you do with that big knife lol?

  • @EthanTheBigEasy hello, I am working on it right now, I'm trying to finish it in the next few days, I got side tracked with a family crisis, but I'm back to work and ready to finish this knife so i get started on some more practical, smaller knives, keep an eye out for the finished knife any day now, thanks for your interest by the way...R.W.Rock

  • @tlingetrich yea man, i purchased the buck knife that walmart sells for 20$ just to see if it was worth the money and i guess for 20$ you get what you pay for buck i was hacking at a split log for kindling and literally knocked a section of the cutting edge off, about an inch long and made 2/3 of an inch deep, straight off when it hit a knot.

Im not sure what kind of wood it was but i know it was a softer wood as i can leave a dip in the wood when i press with my thumb nail.

    but anyway i seen

  • @EthanTheBigEasy I'm suprised, those Bucks are pretty tough, I seen nutinfancy do a test on those and it passed with flying colors, BTW I just did a video responce to your question about the big knife, it's loading now so watch for it in the next 1/2 hour or so....R.W.Rock

  • Hi, As a back up to a larger grinder/sander like you have. If you have to rebuild a knife that got broken, or want to try making one, you can use a regular hand held belt sander. The kind normally used in woodworking. Just mount it upside down in a vise, turn it on, and start grinding. By the way, if using a belt sander to sand wood, it's called a belt sander. If using the same belt sander to grind metal, it's called a belt grinder. Happy knife making to all.

  • where do you get yor equipment???

  • nice, although that mat behind the grinder...i'm pretty sure it's a burner.

  • Do you always wear your ring when working on machinery?

LOL- Stevie Ray Vaughn is the best.

  • @EthanTheBigEasy your video and "thats a proper blade right there" popped into my mind and i figured id ask about it.

  • @jwilsonpipes He removed the housing and put a big ass motor on it.
