As we pull between two lock gates in Georgetown so the boat can be lowered, one of the park rangers, nicknamed Banjo Barbara, plays a song called "Squirrel Heads and Gravy" while some of the passengers accompany her with spoons and a washboard.

  • @IneedTodisco The canal is 184.5 miles long. It starts in Washington, DC and goes to Cumberland, Maryland. Not all portions are open to water traffic though, but the ones that are open are pretty interesting. A lot of people hike or bike alongside the canal.
