Some of my favorite folk songs from Asia, Europe, America and Africa.
This is my first edition. For Jamaica, Russia, Greece, Romania, Ireland, Paraguay, France, Colombia... see my second video.
List of songs:
- Peru: the song is El Condor Pasa
- North Africa: Hassan Hakmoun singing Chabakouni 1 (try to find also the song Nadiyan, it is incredible! Hassan Hakmoun is a great artist from Marrocco).
- USA: Ella Fitzgerald - Smooth Sailing
- Mexico: a traditional "Ranchera" (musical genre from Mexico). That song specifically is called "Guadalajara".
- Portugal: the Portuguese group Madredeus singing O Pastor
- Middle East: Tony Mouzayek singing Gana el Hawa
- Egypt: Amr Diab - Layaly El Omri
- Iran: Shahram Nazeri (great singer) - Majnoon (song). Search on youtube some Shahram Nazeri videos. He is wonderful!
- Italy: the firt song is Tornero, the second is A Casanza (a tarantella song)
- India: the song is "Kawa Kawa Kawa" or "Aaj Mera Jee Kardaa" from the wonderful movie Monsoon Wedding.
- Spain: Gipsy Kings - Bamboleo (flamenco song)
- Brazil: the first song is Isso Aqui Tá Muito Bom (a forró song, sung by Dominguinhos) and the second song is Carinhoso by Pixinguinha (composer) sung by Elis Regina. Carinhoso is a kind of chorinho (it's a sad samba/choro).
- Argentina: the name of the tango song is La Cumparsita
- Japan: the song is Rokudan
- China: the song is "Once Upon a Time in China". I'm not sure about this one. The name of the archive is in english.
- Scotland: the song is Scotland the Brave
- Sub-saharan Africa: South African Gospel Singers - Ladysmith Black Mambazo-Inkanyezi Nezazi
- Cuba: Buena Vista Social Club (group) - Chan Chan (song)
