  • @cortes1988 no, they save the gas so that on the way back the can fly like cowboys on meth. my dad did it when he flew

  • dont mess with a P3C

  • @fcguy7 Oh.. I see. The base I go to has about 2 P-3's but I never seen one flying with a engine off. I wonder if they do the samething with the C-130.

  • @cortes1988 absolutely. When the aircraft (designed as a sub killer) is not carrying anti submarine munitions the aircraft does not need all 4 engines to fly at speed. One is shut down to not only save on fuel but to cut down on the operating hours of that engine ... thus reducing maintenance costs.

  • that is some ride that low

  • Your saying the prop is not moving because to save gas ?

  • Nice Panel, Weird to see it in all digital. I can remember giving some C-141 types a tour in the Gulf one time, they couldn't believe we still were all analog in the CP. Thank you for posting, brings back good memories.

  • Friend of mine served on board an EP-3, said it was one of the more fun postings he had

  • Technical term Engine loitering.

  • Normal ops on station is to feather #1 engine. Wow...the memories of sub chasing...
