A documented misfire with my Ruger 22/45. Using CCI Blazer .22 LR ammo. Not the guns fault, its the ammos fault. The guns firing pin still struck the primer, it just didn't ignite. O well, no harm done.

  • The firing pin may have struck, but perhaps didn't hit hard enough.

Pull your bolt out and use some hoppe's #9 or similar product to remove lead/powder residue from firing pin and firing pin channel.

This is VERY common on the 22/45 because the firing pin and channel is open on two sides to the escaping gasses from the bore.

I usually hold off on cleaning my 22's in general until I get misfires, and when I do, I know it's all the crud in the gun.

You can re-chamber the round and fire it.

  • That happens every now and then with my wife's 22/45--it's typically just the ammo unless you've let the gun get really dirty

  • @gnetix1 lol, read the description.

  • Well that sucks. So what was the problem? Just a bad round or was it the firearm itself?

  • Most likely not the problem here, but I noticed when .22 guns start to get dirty, misfires were more frequent. Every time a quick blast with brake cleaner on the bolt and chamber area fixed the problem.

  • Welcome to the wonderful world of .22 ammo. Try some CCI Mini-Mags; should no longer be an issue.

  • Sucks to have bad ammo. And that is suppose to be "premium" ammo. But it's a .22 so bound to have hiccup ammo. I bought range ammo one time and 5 of the 20 ended up being duds. I was teaching my friend's nephew (11).

    Hi from CA.

  • Great time for a tap / rack / fire drill ^_^
