Noodling around with the Rotten Johnny. One of the things I love about this amp is the great tone available at lower bedroom volumes. Pre and Post gain are up to around 4 o'clock. PPIMV keeps it down to "speaking level" volume. Mid control gives it some Brit crunch.

  • I just ordered one from Paul. I'm having it fitted with an Austin Speaker Works Absolute alnico speaker (25 watts). I'm so excited. You must be enjoying yours so much!

  • @division17, Awesome! Can't wait to hear your reviews, especially with that ASW alnico.

  • When you clean it up, it can sound "Voxy" or "Fenderish" depending on where you set the stand-alone mid control. The mid is a huge tone-shaper in this circuit design. Rolling it back gives you more of a Fender thing, while riding it around 12 o'clock or more does the Brit stuff. I'm going to work on another clip showing this in more detail.

  • That sounded great. I'm thinking of getting one myself. I'm sold on the crunch but what about the clean? By using pre and the post can you get good blackface tone?
