The Grand Inquisitor Scene from Don Carlo, recorded during a performance at the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden in 1968, conducted by Georg Solti.
Philipp II is sung by Boris Christoff and the Grand Inquisitor by the great Scottish bass David Ward.
I apologise for the sound quality, which, as in many live recordings, isn't great.
I hope you enjoy it.

  • wonderful!!!

  • Ward was also a superb Philip, in fact he was superb in all the Verdi he sang.

  • What an interesting pairing of voices!!! Great Perfomance from both Artists! David Ward's Dutchmann,,, then the Inquisitor,, Hah!!! Testosterone in the air!!!!!! Thanks for this post!

  • C'est bien comme interpretation mais la cassette ou bien le disque tourne moins vite que normalement et le son est un peu plus bas. La durée devinet plus longue d'une minute et demie.

  • Great!!!
