In this, the fifth installment of the ten part series to accompany Jack W. Plunkett's new book The Next Boom, we discuss the world issues that are due to arise between now and 2025, and how competition, innovation and entrepreneurship will address them. Advances in such areas as nanotechnology, biotechnology, water and agricultural technologies are some of the areas singled out. Comparisons are made on which countries spend the most on research and development, and how much of that investment comes from public or private origin.
