This is the final version of my first project with arduino: Creating a sort of visual equalizer taking as feed the audio on my PC.
Sorry if the audio is a bit bad, I put my auriculars next to the camera to catch it.
In order to do that, I used arduino & processing with the minim library. It was not hard to do so, since the minim library did most of the work. Most of the time was spent trying different frequency bands for the LEDs, taking linear or logarithmic means, etc.
I'll publish the code on the arduino forums shortly, when it is neater. It's not hard to do and you only need 6 LEDs , 6 resistor and your PC, so I think is a good project for anybody to try if you like it.
I guess thinks like that are already done, but I did this myself from scratch. One interesting feature is a sort of PID that controls the volume, so the LEDs can catch things wether the volume is low or high.
I'll probably spend some more time with minor adjustments, such as the frequency bands and so on. I'll speak with a musician friend of mine, but if you have any feedback, please comment.
No idea, probably the pin configurations and so forth are a bit different, but you can use it as a base.
