A college student with Spina bifida and Borderline Personality explains the process of negotiating classroom accommodations that make the difference in her academic success at school.
I'm so glad you made this video- I am a disabled adult and am considering going to that college- I was accepted but had to defer for medical reasons- this helps me get motivated to give a try now! I have spina bifida and have had a great active life until an accident caused severe, severe problems. I have three bio children- and adopted a child who has SB- I am so glad she will be able to see others go before her and accomplish great things!
Santara, you are my SHERO never give up, SIS, you are SO beautiful. Thank you sincerely for agreeing to make this video to help others with their condition. It is shameful the way our society views exceptionalities in children and even more tragic the little resources offered you. It is inhumane and injustice to one is injustice for all. We love YOU! All the BEST EVER, keep shining!
@sparklyAli Hi, I myself am only L2 but one thing I can recommend if you're having trouble with such tasks as getting dressed and such is you could get a PCA (Personal Care Attendant) to help you out. A local independent living center could help you in locating and hiring one, and finding an agency that will pay them to help you.
Thanks for sharing this video. I have Spina Bifida Myelomenigocele. I can only feel/move to about the middle of my ribs. I need a higer fusion to T2 but I'm not sure how I'd be able to get dressed. Do you have any advice? Thanks
My 13 year old daughter has Spina Bifida and it is such an inspiration to see that young woman going out and getting her education and not letting anything get in her way.
I'm disabled myself and it's nice to find a video showing someone who is disabled going about their life just like everyone else instead of it focusing on how much of an "inspiration" and things they are for just being like everyone else. It's very refreshing.
