If you are familiar with ballroom dancing at all, no doubt you have heard of the waltz. The waltz is a beautiful dance that is done in ¾ time, and it was the first dance to embrace the closed hold. It is considered both a folk dance and ballroom dance and has a history that goes back to the 1780's. Vienna was the first place where the waltz became fashionable and popular as well. While the waltz faced a great deal of opposition along the way, mainly due to the closed holds of the dance, it has been a dance that outlasted all opposition. Over time the waltz has been the inspiration of many other ballroom dances that are performed yet today.

When it comes to the waltz, probably one of the most famous couples to ever dance this beautiful dance is Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. Both Fred and Ginger were known for their grace, elegance, and precision as they danced the Waltz. Their style and prowess at the dance would actually have a huge impact on the waltz and other ballroom dances as well. Still today they are remembered as one of the best couples to ever dance the waltz together. While other great dancers have danced the waltz no doubt Fred and Ginger are the two that are most remembered by people today.
