They have their own language. But some locals may be able to understand & may be able to speak, especially the elderly ones. Because they have Persian roots & looks like Persian more than Turkic.

Tajik is a Persian dialect (Farsi, Dari, and Tajik are varations of the same common language), so yes, they can undestand someone from Iran. It's the same language, only that Tajik evolved separately from the Farsi spoken in Iran. It's very similar to dialects in other languages, like Spanish from Spain and Spanish from Argentina

This is a wonderful country to visit, especially the so hospitable Tajik people. The country is breathtakingly beautiful, with spectacular scenery everywhere.

However, if there is one shot of this video that is definitely NOT a tourist attraction it is the Dushanbe airport. I have been through many, many airports and this is easily the most unpleasant of all. The concept of queuing is unknown, and on exit, all of the officials want bribes.

However, the rest of the country is so beautiful, especially the Tajik people, that it is still a wonderful country to visit.
