As bold a statement as that is, it's true.
Rhythmic Gymnastics is not as funded here in Canada as it is over seas in many eastern european countries. We don't put as much emphasis on it here, but it doesn't mean Canadians aren't remotely talented at the sport.
We have world renounded choreographers in Canada and we have very intensive training programs, but nothing compared to those of the Eastern Europeans.

it's not just rhythmics, the judges don't expect much from canada 'cause it's canada: these performance sports havn't been over here that long. In Equestrain Vaulting the Canadian man at the world equestrain games had compulsories on par with the men in the top ten but didn't score acordingly because the judging was based on their expectations not what they saw. It's sad but there's nothing we can do as althetes other than go to as many competitions as we can and wow them over and over again.

@Bowl1988 What kind of dance do you do? If you do ballet, then it's the easiest to switch, because I know rhythmic gymnasts on my country's junior national team have to undergo intensive ballet training too. Maybe you can post a video of yourself doing gym or something, and we'll see.

At what age did most of the girls join RG? Can you join at any age if you're fairly flexible??
shalom93danseuse 3 years ago
really flexible girls start at 4,5, or 6 i find. as long as you're flexible, you could join and do competitive right away easily at any age. i know someone who was flexible and nvr did rg before and she has been very successful.
