I forgot to mention one of the most important chess books of all - your scorebook! Studying your own games will make a critical difference in your game. :)

  • You have the "right" to make such superficial critques on these books if you want.

However to dismiss a book you have not really read or to dismiss a book because you do not like the chess opening in the book is disengenuous.

  • @chess1941 : It's not disingenuous, I don't say the book or the author is worthless , I just state that I haven't been inspired to get into it for whatever reason, I never claimed my opinion was objective. This is YouTube dude, not my Master's Thesis, I don't have time to spend ten minutes on each book. If you have your own opinions on some of the books I dismissed feel free to share them, otherwise you're just wasting my time further. Please contribute in future comments.

  • It takes thousands of hours to make a chess book. This person is doing a great disservice by the way he dismisses several chess books that he says he has not even read. He seems to be on an ego trip. Fortunately most of the books he talks about are not very current.

  • @chess1941 : it takes thousands of hours to write any book, yet people have the right to their critiques, have you never read a book you didn't like? I'm hardly on an ego trip, I'm just stating my opinion on some of the books I have, sorry it was not helpful to you.

  • Some chess books are made for higher levels of chess competence. You have to take that into consideration. You should not even review a book where you have a prejudice because you don't like an opening. There are many openings I do not like but I would never give a bad review on that basis.

  • @grover4grooves i think fred reinfeld s way better than ultimate chess puzzle book...
