Cops Steal Journalists Camera 1st & 4th Ammendment Violations

I was attacked by the New York Police Department, who broke my camera AND stole it... as well as my footage.

For an example of good cop behavior check out this video from the 4th annaul Iraq War Protest in LA. You will see a squad of bike and foot cops ORDERED to march into the center of a permitted anti war demonstration during a punk concert. They create a line seperating the crowd. Tensions mount (no shit). Finally a cop with some authority on the ground say's "Why are we doing this?" Since none of the ranking officers on the ground have any idea why they were ordered into the crowd... they leave. That's a good cop. The one that says "why are we doing this" when ordered to do fucked up shit.

Stop the fascism. Put pressure on your Police Chief and Commissioner. Theft of that camera is a felony. Are cops in NY City allowed to routinely commit felonies? Find sympathetic reporters to cover this theft in the news. Go to the Police Station and file a felony complaint

for assault and theft. This is also a civil rights violation. Contact the ACLU maybe you can get them to file a lawsuit. It's not OK for cops to destroy evidence of their wrong doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Write to President Obama/Congress asking for a Federal Law of Blue. If any officer commits *ANY* crime, its automatic 10 years (no parole) in a Fed-Pen. Any officer not protecting a civilian during an abusive officer also will get 5 years of hard time and no parole. ZERO TOLERANCE. NO MERCY.

Cops are paid to uphold laws they either are not aware of or are aware of and don't care if they break them. Is it ignorance or carelessness? To serve and protect? It should be to manipulate and abuse.

@Vincentluvr4evr i have no sympathy for mr officer-above-the-law. they all think they can do this because they wear a badge and blue. they lie and violate rights (just watch an episode of cops) because they know you will not take it to court because it will cost you too much money and a judge, who knows the officer, is usually going to side with the lying perjuring cop over the generally law abiding citizen. Having quotas to arrest the citizens your supposed to protect and serve is fucked up.

While the behavior of these men should NOT in any way be condoned or acceptable, you have to be sympathetic to the job they do. My cousin and my dad both work/worked for the sheriff's department, and this is a very high-stress situation. The crowd has the potential to be very volatile in this situation, and there are not very many cops who are there. Can you imagine standing in front of a crowd that could potentially mob you and brutually beat you and kill you at any moment?
