Cops Steal Journalists Camera 1st & 4th Ammendment Violations

I was attacked by the New York Police Department, who broke my camera AND stole it... as well as my footage.

For an example of good cop behavior check out this video from the 4th annaul Iraq War Protest in LA. You will see a squad of bike and foot cops ORDERED to march into the center of a permitted anti war demonstration during a punk concert. They create a line seperating the crowd. Tensions mount (no shit). Finally a cop with some authority on the ground say's "Why are we doing this?" Since none of the ranking officers on the ground have any idea why they were ordered into the crowd... they leave. That's a good cop. The one that says "why are we doing this" when ordered to do fucked up shit.

Write to President Obama/Congress asking for a Federal Law of Blue. If any officer commits *ANY* crime, its automatic 10 years (no parole) in a Fed-Pen. Any officer not protecting a civilian during an abusive officer also will get 5 years of hard time and no parole. ZERO TOLERANCE. NO MERCY.

I hate how people I know verbally attack these issues amongst themselves, but never do anything. Worse tho, they sometimes don't out of intimidation "Well they're cops, it won't do any good". This is dead wrong. Push, complain, call, lobby... your efforts will make a difference - but only if you DO something. Facebook chainletter bullshit does not count; it does as much good for awareness as putting a bumper sticker in your room.

Cops feel entitled, as if becoming a cop is something difficult. They tend to be the most ignorant towards constitutions and behave in a niggardly fashion. I won't be the first nor the last to say, violations of constitutional rights should be a federal trumped up charge for those who are supposed to be defending and working along side of it for the better of people.

Cops are paid to uphold laws they either are not aware of or are aware of and don't care if they break them. Is it ignorance or carelessness? To serve and protect? It should be to manipulate and abuse.

How can you condone that behavior? The theft of a persons property ? The only reason they wanted the camera was to hide their behavior. Behavior which incited the ppl to become agitated.
