Are there plans somewhere I can get to make this thing? Please help me out!!

its much better when you have bushels of apples to keep the hopper full, almost nothing comes out the top. we only had a few in hand for the test, and yes if its not full they will just spin and spit out of the top.

this isnt very effecient consider80% is going out the top sides and bottom

what is the grinding wheel made of? This is looks like PVC and Screws but I'm really not sure and I want to make like this due to the fact it really seems to work wonderfully

i milled a block of wood to fit inside pvc pipe, and then put rows of screws in on an angle with the heads sticking up about 1/4"

What pattern of screws did you use on the drum? I'm planning to make one of these this winter.
Cheers,Jon.

i lateral rows of screws spaced about 1/4" apart, and each row is staggered. the first head i made didnt have a staggered pattern and it would clog up and stop grinding.

how many HP or watts is your motor and how many rpm are you running at? I'm trying to make one of these! we have a hand powered one but yours looks far superior!

it is a bit overkill, its a 1hp motor. i had it as a spare for my table saw. i think its 1750 rpm, and i geared the head down 1:2 ratio, so its spinning about 875rpm. i think a 1/2 hp motor would be more than sufficient for a similar size grinder head (about 6" wide).
