Smashing up beautiful musical instruments is not cool ... though many of the bands that did it were! Here's an exploration of Auto-destructive art and its relationship with rock culture. Pioneers like The Who were influenced by the auto destructive art of Gustav Metzger. But is it art?

Good vid. Instrument destruction is exciting and entertaining on stage and it's great when it reflects the anger in the music and a wild performance. Listening to the instrument die, feedback and violent spitting sound makes it an awesome experience. Cheers.
