One African woman's story , founder of Umuada Igbo Nigeria ... to unite Igbo people (50 milion in number) and help women to be independent and able to fend for themselves and their children - against total discrimination - and no financial assistance from banks, having no collateral (no women owned the land) which was a disadvantage. So Lolo - Dr Kate Uzoamaka Ezeofor started the Umuada Igbo Community Bank providing soft loans to women all over the country (disbursing over 10,000,000 naira to women and youth). Umuada Igbo Nigeria is an unbrella body of Umuada (daughters of Igbo Land), a global gorup in all the States of Nigeria and the Diaspora with a membership of 12 million and headquarters in Enugu, Nigeria. It objectives to foster peace, unity, progress, inculcate spirit of love and leadership, empower women and youth, provide micro credits and help the needy ,..and eradicate harmful traditional practices like femalegenitalmutilation, upholding widowhood rights, educating women on reproductive health and human rights, etc.
