@MICKLYSS1 When you chain, there is an amount that will be needed for each pattern stitch. For example, when you make a basic shell, you will need 6 chains for each shell. 6 is the multiple. It will be different for each pattern stitch you work. The plus amount is done only once. It is the oddball amount of chains that will be needed to complete the pattern stitch. The plus amount makes sure that your work comes out even.

@ygfvtliutg7pohydh 5 means that is how many chains it takes to complete each individual stitch. Most people don't end up withe the correct amount anyway but you should be able to get close.

@addyrain I know is is confusing. It is an amount of stitches needed to complete a set of pattern stitches.
