4 Rescued From Capsized Boat
by Jennifer Wade-Standard-Times 10/26/08
A good Samaritan rescued four people from the water in Buzzards Bay after their boat capsized Saturday morning, the Coast Guard said.
Around 10 a.m., a 20-foot Sportscraft rolled over in the area of Round Hill Point after a wave hit the side of the boat, according to Coast Guard Petty Officer Scott Leazott. All four people on board were tossed into the water.
David Wilson, owner of the 40-foot pleasure craft Triple Play, which was in the area at the time, rescued the four. The Coast Guard then arrived to assist, Petty Officer Leazott said.
Those on board the Sportscraft were taken to State Pier in New Bedford and transported to St. Luke's Hospital; it was thought that they had hypothermia, Petty Officer Leazott said.
There was no update on their condition at press time.
The capsized boat was towed to Davis & Tripp Inc. boatyard in Dartmouth.
