The Lion King: The First Two Brothers

Created for a contest on The Lion King Fan Art Archive. This is supposed to be like a picture book, I just happened to upload it as a video so people can have easier access. (**No music due to copyright conflict, sorry.**) So quality is pretty bad because it's made from screenshots of the original Word document. I highly recommend you check either that or the PDF out if you want to see what my original vision was.

Anyway, this story is about the character Mohatu, who appears in a Lion King picture book as the grandfather of Mufasa and Scar (Taka). Another lion also appears in that book, and I decided they were brothers. This story is about Mohatu telling his grandsons about his brother, Choyo.

Well, Choyo. I bet he was Zira's mate. But Mufasa... what'a mistake'a to make'a.

Good story. But Mohatu was dead by the time Mufasa was born I think cos Mufasa said in a book that his father Ahadi told him that Mohatu was Ahadi's ANCESTOR.

There is only one Disney book about Mohatu, and it is called "The Brightest Star". In that book, Mohatu is specifically Mufasa's grandfather (I have taken creative license by having him alive when Mufasa is born - that is not mentioned in the text). Ahadi is not mentioned in "TBS"; he appears only in "TLK6NA" which is different.

Either way, Choyo would be a little old to be Zira's mate, seeing as he is an adult lion in "TBS" in the time of Mufasa's grandfather. Possible, though.

Yes, Choyo is the "selfish lion" from "The Brightest Star". I chose to make him Mohatu's brother since they have similar coloring; a fan creation since the book does not say they are related.

Yes, according to the Disney-published picture book "The Lion King: Six New Adventures" in the story "A Tale of Two Brothers", his name was Taka. He changed it after his eye was scarred in a buffalo stampede. You can read this story through scans I have on my photobucket.
