I've had the same steel health balls for years and never really learnt good techniques - only knew how to roll using my thumb. Great video - solid instruction. You have pretty amazing dexterity.
Using your fret hand to roll the balls will help you develop finger dexterity for consecutive note passages. You won't notice a difference if all you play are power chords, but by all means, give it a go if you have the chance.
It would depend on your hand size. As a rough guideline I would say half the width of your hands for the ball diameter.
My hands have a width of approx. 95 mm. And the balls I use here have a diameter of 45 mm (and a weight of 150 gr). These are the first balls I ever used and I have practiced with these a lot. The jade ones have a diameter of 40 mm and weigh about 110 gr.
I would recommend chrome balls for a beginner because jade tends to get a rough surface when rubbed against each other.
Okay, thanks for the info ^^ I think I'm going to order a pair of 40mm chrome ones. I got a pair already but they are way to big for my hands and I can hardly spin them around.

Just checking out videos, thanks for your video. I like your demo of the 3 plus one on top, very cool looking!
I hope you will enjoy some of my other movies as well and there will be more posted in the future.
And what size are the chrome and jade ones you've got?
