Ending the Arab-Israeli conflict will temper a lot of the extremism in the region, according to MacFarquhar. But, he says, to focus on the bloodshed that occurs between Israel and Palestine distorts international views of the Middle East and de-emphasizes the importance of men and women who are attempting to bring the Arab world closer in step with the rest of the world.

This Carnegie Council event took place on May 12, 2009. For complete video, audio, and transcript, go to http://www.cceia.org.

  • None of this makes any realistic sense- all of the reviews I've read on your book claim that you have some vast knowledge of the inner workings of the Middle East and it's various conflicts- but based on this video, you are nothing but an Anti-Western society, misinformed, faker who clearly has a particular goal in mind. Pick sides mister, but don't pretend you are something that you aren't.
