Dear John Alternate Ending

The real change starts ca. after one minute ;)

I really love the book "Dear John" and I was looking forward to see the movie, everything was great but the thing they changed the most was the end. I was like "WTF?", because the end was the most important thing why I love this book so much. In the movie it sounds like Tim died after two more months and then John&Savannah meet again and hug each other. Great end (HAHA).
But then I found the alternate ending and I was like "Yeeah, why didn´t they choose this one?", I know it´s more tragic etc. but it´s at least more like the book.

What do you think? Which ending do you prefer?

The ending wasnt the only thing they changed <_< not to sound like a dick but if you read it like you said, you'd know this o_O The boy is supposed to be the brother of her husband, not the son. o.o They actually changed a few things but eh, i guess i notice those details.

@Kirstenfrancis I did read the book and noticed the other changes but to be honest, I didn´t care because those changes weren´t that important for me, but the ending was.

she ended up with him out of pity, she felt sorry for him. Personally all the love they had she threw it all out cause she felt sorry for the guy.

well this scene is more true to how the book ended so I like this ending better though it is sadder. the ending they used was nice but I kinda didn't believe it.

in the movie they meet at a chafe and they hug etch-other.. but i think they start dating after but they still love etch-other and get married and :D <3<3<3 but thats what i think

@gjkds LOL, he is not dead. He is hiding from Savannah. In the book John says that military has taught him how to blend in the atmosphere, the camouflage stuff. Maybe they put that effect to show that he is invisible to Savannah.

By the way. it would have been a more tragic end if he was dead, just thinking about it is giving me goose bumps hehehe!
