Philharmonia Orchestra, Guido Cantelli
Recorded 1955

Many musicians have died young. Cantelli was among that number- he perished in a plane crash in 1956. He was Toscanini's only protoge, and combined the great Maestro's extraordinary precision and focus with a passion that was wholly missing from his mentor's conducting. Had he lived, he could have been one of the top conductors of the 20th century, eclipsing Karajan and others.
