Chief James G. Broockerd "Legacy of Excellence"

This is a tribute to Chief James G. Broockerd, retired, of the Overland Park Kansas Fire Department. Chief Broocked was a "one of kind" small midwestern town Fire Chief who was likened to John Wayne. 16mm film was shot by KMBC 9's Phil French, who was also a volunteer with the OPFD, and was produced by Marty Dashiell. Still photographs courtesy of Lane and Noel Kline, of 911 pics, who are also beloved veteran fire service photographers. The special tribute played for the first time as long time Overland Park Fire Station #2 was dedicated and named for him. He was surrounded by Family, and hundreds of Friends in the Fire Service for the special occasion that honored a legend. www.kchd.net
