"Changing Course" tells the story of a group of young designers who took part in an experiment to re-envision an abandoned and polluted river as a first step toward reconnecting people with the land they inhabit.
The design students from the Jones & Jones field school are grappling with some of the most difficult issues of our time: the disposal of the byproducts our consumer culture, the uneven distribution of wealth and the resulting environmental injustice, the need for industries that provide products and jobs and the need for community cohesiveness. "Changing Course" presents many perspectives and aims to foster open dialogue and debate about these crucial issues of our time. By approaching these issues in the context of creative expression and imaginative design "Changing Course" will avoid polemical arguments and should open up viewers' minds to the many possibilities for progress.
