I'm surprised this hasn't surfaced on YouTube yet - and I guess an actual video performance would be even more rare - but this is the original 1986 version of Candi Staton's latterly classic "You've Got The Love", the acapella of which was put together with the dub of Frankie Knuckles' "Your Love" to make the version we all know and love, some years later (1990).

Of course, back then it all sounded very, very different...

  • So nice, finally the original :)

  • @fayzles Bullshit!!!! Sorry to be so rude BUT this IS the original - this is the track that had people filling the best clubs and raves in the early 90s. This track is a rave track - it always was and it always will be. THAT woman with her silly hair and her silly dresses and her even sillier make-up raped the original - Sorry mate but I get regularly quite upset about this one - it's just a generational difference I guess :)) Peace.

  • Oh yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Bog off Florence :))

  • Nice

  • Ohhhh the original is a Boogie track? Wonderful!

  • @fayzles

Her vocal sounds powerful, because it is the same as Candi Staton's. If she had done a completely different take on the song, believe me, I would have complimented her. Check out the difference between Rose Royce's version of "Love Don't Live Here Anymore", with Jimmy Nail's version; Both of them are on this site. Both are great!!!

  • @agfagaevart Florence sings it with more power. Give it a listen. :') Also if Florence sang it any other way you would have complained..

  • @fayzles

The MUSIC may be different, but the VOCALS are exactly the same.

  • @agfagaevart They are completely different versions :L she covered it... not copied it.

  • @FotoProducer13

Because Florence just COPIED Candi Staton.
