Public Access TV Exective Director Pat Garlinghouse & along with Board Member Ralph Roberts "No Filming without Permission" this is simply not true based on my thoughts of how North Carolina Open Board Meetings Laws reads.
URTV is required to follow NC Open Board Meeting Laws however Mr.Roberts & Mrs. Garlinhouse has some unheard rule that everyone on the Board must give thier permission. Filming can be aired on TV & Internet which Mrs. Garlinghouse along with Mr.Ralph Roberts says it cant. A few days later Mrs. Garlinhouse was called to re-sign Buncombe County resolution which includes complying to Open Board Meeting Laws of North Carolina.
Watch remarks from Robin Cape who sits on the Asheville City Council -
We need reform at URTV -
This makes no sense and is part of the reason Richard Bernier was removed from the board.

URTV is a joke. It is a comprised of a congress of megalomaniacs and the lunatic fringe that exhibit the very basest aspects of Asheville. I applaud the premise of bolstering the First Amendment, but the constant bickering amongst these children is pathetic. At present, what they are doing DOES NOT WORK and is a stench in the nostrils of the citizenry.

Weaverville Town Council understands about Open Meeting Laws & allowed to be filmed with little or no issues.
Shame on URTV for not wanting to be open, Public Access - my goodness - just do what you are required to do URTV.

I don't think it shows URTV management very well either Mr. Iway/ Fitzpatrick. In fact it show them trying to weasel out of obeying the law...This is the tip of the iceberg....wake up!

Hello. My name is Nick Iway. I was recently elected to the board by the producers of URTV to replace the two board members who were removed. I've been a producer at URTV since early 07 and as a producer I have always been more than happy with the services I receive at URTV. I hate to see all this division over what seems to me like, nit picky, silly little things disguised as "1st amendment" and "Open Meeting Law" issues. I don't think this video properly shows anything about URTV very well.
