This video shows you how to generate random creatures and how to specify their settings. It also explains the "orbiting camera" feature.

  • Can you make a tutorial (Or tell me over a Private message) How to make them evolve? I choose a creature, save and load an evolution and press "Go" but when the countdown reaches 0 (If it does) It just makes a new creature that looks nothing like the previous one and i know it's generated a new creature. Help?

  • Ok. I think I understand the confusion now. I'll try to explain..

When you run an evolution, there's a whole population of creature, let's say 50 of them. The program will evaluate the first one, then the second, then the third... etc. Once they're all evaluated, the best ones reproduce and hybridize and mutate, etc, to produce another 50 creatures. Then those get evaluated one at a time, and the process repeats like that over and over.

    continued..

  • (continuation of previous reply)

In that very first population at the beginning, each creature has random genetic material, so they all look different. That's why you're seeing one strange creature after another. Once it runs for about a dozen generations or so, the creatures start to look more similar to each other because only the best have been surviving and reproducing, so diversity is lost (except for the diversity produced by mutation and crossover).

So, what you saw is normal.

  • How do i make them breed??!!?!?

  • A little candle light, some soft music...

They only do that as part of an evolution. When you just generate a random creature, there's no way to breed it (well, there is a way, but it would involving saving the creature and then copying and renaming some files and folders - a bit more bother than it's worth, likey)

  • Thank you. I now understand. By the way, can you add a customise thing where you can customise a creature? I want to make a human with legs, feet etc.

  • when i click open evolution crashes

    how can i breed?lol

  • I'll be making it easy to download soon (just hard to find the time - been meaning to do it since December!). As for a more catchy name... not a bad idea. Any suggestions?

  • I recommend giving it a catchy and easily searchable name and providing the software as an easy download. If you make it easy enough to create videos, surely people will create videos of their creatures and put them on youtube and talk about the name of the program which you can search.

  • Email or message him for the program, ive got it and its awesome if a little bit daunting t first glance
