Wind Scene, song of the year 600 AD (Chrono Trigger), played in Okinawan Sanshin.

Sanshin is a traditional 3-stringed Okinawan lute. In Japan, though, another type of shamisen was developed. I just call their japanese shamisen as "hondo no shamisen".

I wish I could play this song with a Tsugaru Shamisen.....

  • isnt that Okinawan Shamisen?

  • @NickDan555

Yes, it is an Okinawan Shamisen.

  • ive got a question for you.....can you use the bachi to play the sanshin as well?

    thanks.

  • @DANCERRAVER

Usually, sanshin is played with a nail-shaped object called "chimi" (which means "nail" in Okinawan language). Some people, though, grow their nail instead of using it. The bachi is used only in Japanese shamisen.
