You have to know the sound for each letter to "put together" words in Vietnamese. Listen to this over and over again. It took me a while to remember them, so don't get frustrated.

  • Thank you for watching my video. I hope to help people learn Vietnamese. I will post more videos soon. There is a new system that is being taught for over-sea Viets that is very helpful. I watched this video over 200 times before I finally remember the sounds.

  • Do you have any tips about getting the accent right? What position my mouth/tounge/lips should be in for good pronunciation. My bf Is vietnamese and can teach me but my new zealand accent isn't helping me at all...haha

  • @koontie Please make a video of this!

  • người Việt hay trẻ em Việt đêù bắt đầu học như vậy

  • Yes, thank you! I need actual hearing clues,, not just the signs on paper.

  • @Helen200820 when u prounouce d on the 2nd one u say duh and on t u say tuh

  • I have learnt vietnamese about 4 years,but I still cant pronounce between" T "and 'D"

its so hard for me,it seems similar..

  • @Xytos she pronounces " p " a little bit off, she did pronounced it like b ( sorry linh1943). It's not her fault though, its because of the region where she was borned or where she learnt the alphabet. Different regions have different accents. She is sure from the south, and for some people in the south, they pronouce "p" like "p". no matter how they try, they still can't. The same thing goes for the northerners. Some northerner pronounce " l " and " n " the same way.

  • @De4sher The alphabet sounds different maybe because you heard the older version of the alphabet. About 40 years ago,Vietnamese had a different pronounciations for the alphabet ( ex: a, b,c, d, e, i, q, p in the older version of the Viet alphabet sound exactly like a,b,c,d,e,i,q, p in the Spanish alphabet ). But about 20 yeas ago, the Viet changed the pronounciation of the alphabet ( the pronounciation of the alphabet in this video is the new version ).

  • @De4sher And the first letters sound different if you listen carefully. The emotion changed the word. The sound of the first letter is like when someone tell you to open your mouth so that they will feed you. the second letter's sound is like when you're too excited or when you scream, the emotion go up which change the word. The third letter's sound does not apply for life situation much, but it's like sometime when you are confuse, you will say that letter.

  • @De4sher You're right, the northerners pronounce "d ", " g", " r " different than the southerners. The northerners' pronounciations is the correct ones. The southerners can't pronounce " d ", " g ", " r ". I'm a southerners, but at school, we were taught to pronounce the alphabet the northerners' way, it's just that no matter how we try, we still can't because of the accent.
