i know what they are and i know what you mean, i ride a trail bike and i own a race bike as well, and it does not really matter on the weight our rm weighs around 15kg lighter than my 250 but you can go faster through the bush on the 250. although i wouldnt buy a 250x i have had rides on them and they just dont appeal to me

Yes, about 2 years. Seriously, Honda usually makes some slight changes every year. There are some small differences from an '04 to an '06 but I don't think most people would feel a radical change one way or another.

Thanks to everyone for all the positive comments. This was one of my buddy's first rides on his new, unfamiliar bike and he was being extra careful with the new machine. He has years of riding and racing experience. This bike has proven very reliable and is given regular desert workouts.
You got like three feet of air that time....

Yeah...let's see your jump attempt. New and unfamiliar bike that the owner really didn't want to scar all up on one of the first rides. If you don't know than just go.

The CRF R IS lighter, more nimble and capable. That is the motocross racing version. The X model offers a lighting and electric start option which costs the extra weight of a battery, starter and other small changes to the electrical and support systems. A small price to pay when kicking is very inconvenient or impossible or you happen to get caught on the trail in a tough spot and/or after sundown. Much more practical for the weekend rider that doesn't need to account for every lb. of weight.
