@anime891 Simply put. The only way any 4pot or 6pot engine keeps up with an 8 or even 10 is by means of a lot of boost. Plus a ''used'' Supra goes for about 30k, and parts arn't cheap for them. By the time you get done spending the 10k for the parts on top of the 30k for the car, you could of built a sub 800HP Mustang GT with the terminator/aluminator engine swap. Not financially friendly..just for someone with deep pockets
@darksniper1982 I wasn't challenging the Supra's ability to go fast with force induction. I simply just stated that, without forced induction it's not possible to reach powers enough to compete with an NA V-8.
@anime891 Yes but please show me a muscle car faster than a Supra... The world's fastest street legal Muscle car (only because they are exempt from emissions), is a 6.97 second car.. The fastest Supra (street legal) is a 6.891 (this from an I6). And a BMW with the Supra's 2JZ-GTE engine still holds the world record for fastest pass in the Sport class which is 6.517. While I respect anything that is fast, Supra's have made a HELL of a name for themselves in the drag strip world.
@OutInTheRain1 It is true you can't push 2000whp on a I6 (the record for a Supra is 1673whp straight boost no NOS) 800 is easily attained on stock internals.. You truly do not know of the potential of the 2JZ-GTE engine. It is built stock to be able to withstand up to 1000hp on stock forged internals (while it is not safe or recommended, it can be done). And the stock Getrag V160 tran is built for 1200hp. My 98 Supra has a max 973whp setting on stock internals, but I run it at 851 to be safe
