Internetdagarna 2009, http://www.internetdagarna.se/, the big yearly Internet conference in Stockholm, arranged by .SE, the top level domain of Sweden: The current Minister of Justice opened day 2 of the conference, Nov 4, with a lecture about the government's regulation of Internet. Oscar Swartz, writer, blogger, Internet entrepreneur, Pirate Party supporter, http://swartz.typepad.com/, challenged her. She talked almost only about how Internet endangers youth and about "child porn" as an argument for blocking the net. She also mentioned the copyright industries and how people "own" immaterial "things" they create. The most naive and ill-informed way of discussing intellectual "property". She should have listened to professor James Boyle, a keynote speaker the day before. She failed to even mention the general interception of ALL Internet and phone communications that passes the Swedish border that her government will enforce through law.

  • Scary scary scary
