True grassroots in action: JTMP documents citizens gathering at their state capitol to speak with their state delegates and state senators, to foster support for 2 bills that deal with equality in Maryland. One bill will legalize same-sex marriage in Maryland, the other will prohibit discrimination in housing, employment, and other areas based on sexual orientation.
Stories at the Statehouse: Why Equality Matters Day
Date: January 31, 2011
Time: 05:00 PM
Location:
Maryland Statehouse
100 State Circle
Annapolis, MD 21401
In a matter of days, the Maryland Senate will begin hearing testimony on a bill that will secure marriage for loving and committed same-sex couples in our state.
And on January 27th, the house announced Gender Identity Anti-Discrimination legislation that would add anti-discrimination protections on the basis of gender identity for employment, housing and credit.
And with your help, we can quickly pass these bills through the House and Senate this legislative session. But your elected officials need to hear your voice before they take these historic votes that affect our community.
We'll meet at 5:00 on Lawyer's Mall at the Statehouse before meeting with legislators to tell our stories about why equality matters. We'll provide you with training, talking points, and team you up with other people from your legislative district!
