it's not that hard to do. you just get some glucomannan or konjac root powder / flour http://bit.ly/shiritaki wet it down and fry it up (put some flavor stuff on it), but people keep asking me to make a vide - so here ya go lol. i don't think they're gonna ask me to start a cooking show any time soon ... anyways they call this stuff the "miracle noodle" or Shiritaki etc ... they don't usually sell it at the grocery store, and when they do it's often insanely expensive (the powder's cheaper than the noodle though - thus why i'm making this) ... so it's like 0 calorie, very filling, very good at absorbing flavor (and water so be careful), extremely high fiber ... if you're not used to eating it, don't over do your first meal or you might get sick ... it takes your intestines little while to adapt to a non calorie and high fiber food ... and cook it before you eat it ... because if "the powder" expanded in your throat in could choke you to death. ..... you could probably make a mint growing the konjac root plant over here and grinding it into flour and selling the powder over here ... i suspect that plant might soak up swampland water real well.

  • I am glad you showed this alternative to buying the noodles already made. I want to have other texture options for the Konjac noodles.

  • @MertezAad oh you're welcome - i just wish Safeway & Walmart etc etc would start carrying the powder so we could get it even cheaper

  • u gotta eat at least 1500 kalories per day (as a woman my size and weight) to not get ur metabolism down...thats the kalories ur body needs just to breathe and be able to have all the body functions (excuse my english) .... if u eat less ur metabolism will shut down and u gonna ruin it.....

  • I will give you 10$ to get it nearby restaurant period.

  • You are an abomination to the culinary world. Why did I have to stumble upon this video? Now I can never try shirataki noodles without being reminded of this, instantly triggering my gag reflex.

  • can you add me?

  • You can buy MRS. WAGES PICKLING LIME (calcium hydroxide) from ebay BUT what he's making doesn't use it. I *tried* to make shirataki noodles using pickling lime & I did something wrong, because it didn't work.

See the video making of konnyaku for how to make shirataki noodles

  • And where can I buy calcium hydroxi to make the recipe?

  • "I wish our government would feed it to us..." @ 1:45

    Are you fucking kidding me?

  • You can get this for $19# +$5 shipping for 2 bags or $10 shipping for up to 12# (I think) at konjacfoods - Starwest also sells bulk powder but I don't know where to get it.

He's not cooking in oil, just liquids.

  • When you say frying I assume oil, but that would kinda kill the health benefit and it looks like you poured water in there...is it water or oil? Do you only season after you put it in the pan or can it be mixed before hand with spices and veggies and such? Thanks so much for making this vid and showing how easy it is; I just ordered my first bag with high hopes!
